How is this pregnancy different than the last one? Well it's quite a bit different so far! First, I've been experiencing a lot more nausea this time than last. I'm definitely having bouts during the last few days (starting around 5 1/2 weeks) where I feel sick to my stomach. It's no fun! I feel bad for people who go through even worse than this. No puking yet, but just a general sick feeling. Ugh. Also, I've been craving a lot of salty food. As I recall with #1, I think I was mostly craving carbs and sweets, but this time, I'm definitely wanting salty things - chex mix, pretzels, rice covered in soy sauce, etc. Not sure what that's about! I did read that a desire for salty foods may indicate a need for more sodium as blood volume and body tissues are increasing. Could that be it?
The problem is though, that the hunger I had a week or two ago has now been replaced by this awful nausea and I have to force myself to eat. I'm not hungry but I force myself to eat because, you know, it's probably important for me to have food while I'm growing a person, but then I feel yucky afterwards and sick. I knew I was just too lucky the first time around!!

Tidbits
Random ongoings of the week:
1. Barrett is sick. Poor baby, he has a yucky nose and a persistent cough. We've been battling this cough since his RSV episode in early January. I am hoping it's just a cold and will go away soon. He's been in good spirits though, so I am glad I at least have my baby.
2. Tim also seems to be getting this cold. I, so far, have just seemed to get my cough back again but no cold yet (knock on wood!) I think I deserve a passover on this one, considering how many colds I have gotten in the last few months. This sickness means that he sleeps badly though meaning I sleep badly. He spent the last few nights in our guest room. And we both slept amazingly well. We better get healthy before we get too used to sleeping apart and start to enjoy it too much!
3. The weather here was amazing the last week or so but is back to nasty rain and cold today. Where, oh where, is spring? My poor tulips have already poked through the ground and I just know that they're going to be covered in snow again before March is out. This always seems to happen!
4. Tim was officially promoted at work this week. I am incredibly proud of him. He definitely deserves this and I'm glad to see him getting well-deserved recognition!
5. Baby Barrett is growing into a full-fledged toddler. This means opinions. He has got a rebellious side and has started testing our rules. Don't get me wrong - he's still the sweetest and happiest little thing, but I see the wheels turning in his head as he does something he knows is naughty and watches for our reaction. Last night it was splashing his sippy cup around in the dog's water bowl.
This is all of the goings-on of our week so far. We have a fun weekend ahead! I hope everyone has a good weekend too!

Barrett - 15 months
Barrett is 15 months now and officially a toddler - and definitely acting the part too. It's as though once he became a walker he figured it was time to go all out for the toddler behavior.
He loves to knock things down. I stack cups and he has a sly little grin on his face as he waits for me to finish and knows what's coming next - his turn to DESTROY the tower! He also loves the game where we put things on our heads and say "ta-da!" His comes out more of a "da!" but he definitely loves this game.
Mr PickyPants has gotten better about eating. He's eating a lot more these days and has the belly to prove it. He's definitely become a lot more roly-poly. Sometimes he eats very nicely in his chair and other times he loves the gravity game, where food, cups, and spoons gets flung to the floor or across the table. Bad luck to Payton if he's standing underneath and ends up with pasta in his ears but good luck to him of course because - yum! I keep telling myself this is just a phase. Right?
He's a great sleeper still - around 11.5 hours at night and down to one decent nap during the day. I much prefer the one nap because it's easier to plan weekend outings this way.
He is the happiest little thing and so friendly. We take him very occasionally to restaurants and he can't get enough of everyone around him. He's such a social little animal and loves to be around people!

Top of the Mornin' to Ya!
Happy St Patrick's Day! I hope everyone is wearing their green today and will be drinking their green beer tonight! We are all decked in green today. In honor of the day's festivities, below are some pictures of our last St Patty's Day sans-Barrett, when our only baby was of the furry, four-legged variety. We participated in the town's parade, where of course Pay was the star of the show. All the kids loved him and his green leash, green bandanna and leprechaun hat.
Hope you have fun celebrating today!

Catching up
I am slowly adding some catch-up posts over the last few months while I've been MIA! Most will be backdated, since I started a lot of them long ago but just need to upload or add pictures. So take a look back throughout the week and make sure you've read them all as I'm adding! And I promise to not be such a slacker going forward! Shame on me!
Barrett's First Haircut
Well we finally pulled the trigger and de-mulleted our little boy. Okay, I'll admit, it was looking a little shaggy! Every weekend we planned to do it, but I just wasn't ready. Finally even I admitted that it was time. And looking at these pictures, I'm realizing just how mulleted he was!
Yes, some tears were shed. By me. He did fine! He loved the racecar from the second we set him in it. He was turning the wheel, smiling like crazy. He sobered up the longer it went on and was pretty antsy towards the end, but he did a great job. It was very sad to see those pretty blond curls disappear but he looks much better now. And he probably won't get asked where his Trans Am is now.
Before (obviously!):
After:
GQ may be calling soon, look at my little man!
We also recently gave our other boy a haircut. He was also one shaggy dog!
